Association) is an international non-government organization of medical
students. It currently includes 123 member organizations from 116 countries. It
was founded in 1951 but the need for decentralization of the organization was
soon realized and so in 1970’s IFMSA started working on these levels:
- Local

- Regional
- International
And the IFMSA Lahore is a local subdivision of IFMSA
currently working under the worthy presidency of Arfa Ahmad. There have been

IFMSA Lahore is the largest local counsel of IFMSA Pakistan
and has been working for the betterment of the society in a medical,
professional and moral manner. IFMSA-PAK.KEMU LC is currently working in King
Edward Medical University to empower the medical students. In the last years it
has conducted many amazing projects to enlighten the local community through
these students. Some of the leading Projects include
Maternity Child Healthcare Project 2014
This project included a seminar to enlighten the medical
students about maternity care and about the delicacy of health of newborns.
This was a successful project in which many students participated and after the
seminar they were directed to the hospital where they guided the admitted
patients.
Career Guidance Seminar 2014
Career Guidance Seminar was a stimulating event in which
Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr Ali Tariq and Professor Farid Ahmed Khan
obliged us with their presence and guided the students about FCPS, USMLE and
FRCS.
Basic Life Support Workshop 2014
Basic Life Support Workshop was a two day event held in
collaboration with Rescue 1122. There was a huge turnout and great enthusiasm.
The basic lifesaving mechanisms were demonstrated to serve the community in
time of need.
No Tobacco Day Walk 2014
An anti-tobacco day walk was arranged to discourage the
raging trend of smoking in our country. Vice Chancellor Professor Faisal Masood
obliged us with his presence. Along with him some noteworthy names Professor
Khalid Masood Gondal, Professor Arshad Cheema and many others were also
present.
This was actually a brief account of what IFMSA has been
doing in the past. But this year started with a bang with an amazing turnout
for the local general council interviews. This year the IFMSA-PAK.KEMU.LC has a
large cabinet all set to rule and reign. IFMSA has already started the events
this year including MCHP on 17th February, 2015 and Open
Undergraduate Day on the way. With high spirits the IFMSA KEMU is striving to
reach new horizons including the Publications Support Division launching IFMSA-KEMU’s
own blog to cover all the events and to publish the research articles online.
So everybody , Let’s just keep calm and believe in IFMSA J
