OPEN DAY 2K15

OPEN DAY 2K15

For most of the pre-medical students, the word “KING EDWARD MEDICAL UNIVERSITY” is a dream, distant and hazy, opaque and smoggy. Only a select few are able to enter its premises as students and experience first- hand the grandeur that K.E has to offer. But on 24th of March, continuing the very tradition, IFMSA KEMU LC, under the worthy and proficient presidency of ARFA AHMAD, arranged the OPEN DAY, for prospective students, giving them an exclusive glimpse into the wonders and marvels,  the world KEMU holds in it, thus adding fuel to their desire to attain admission in this prestigious and celebrated institution and imparting indispensable knowledge to them on how to ace their exams to achieve their goal of getting into this historical phenomenon, THE KEMU .

The students from GCU, KIPS, KC, LGS, FC College, Punjab College, Iqra Institute, Queen Mary College, Al-Hamd institute and many other notable colleges participated with great zeal.

BEGINNING

The event started with recitation of Holy Quran, followed by introductory note by society president. The event was hosted by Izza Bazigh and Ayesha Irfan from 3rd year who were very competent in their job.

VP, Aleesha kianat and Hamza Arshad actively handled all the stage proceedings throughout the event.

Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal and Dr. Atif Kazmi delivered inaugural addresses in a very unique and inspirational style. Another gem of medical field Dr. Ali Hashmi interacted with the students. He walked down the stage to address the undergraduate audience directly.

Following this was the video introducing students to IFMSA. After the introduction was the academic part of the event. First presentation was by Awais Raza and Shajee ud Din from 3rd year
and 1st year respectively which was very helpful and panoptic presentation and it covered Fsc comprehensively.

This event was not solely for board examinees, showing the very example of “SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE”, Raza Shahzad and Raja Mobeen from 4th year and 2nd year respectively.
They provided the A-levels students with very panoramic and professional guidance.

ENTERTAINMENT BREAK

After this heavy duty nerdy stuff there was an entertainment break.

A multi award winning short film of KE, “TEEN MINUTE” was shown to students. It earned applause from everyone in the hall.

Farhan Ashraf from 4th year also sang a song.

Sana Shahid from 1st year resumed the academic part, the very purpose of the event, with her impeccable presentation on MCAT.

The highlight of the day was Kanza Noor’s presentation who is the highest scorer in MCAT so far. She talked about the general aspects of student life including emphasis on how to avert pre-conceived fears and seize opportunities as they come.

Ayesha Seerat was also commendable with her presentation.

Then came a refreshing and lightly comical performance by Ahmad Rafay from 3rd year. He analyzed ways how to handle the stress.

A video by Khawar Abbas introducing all the societies of KE was played showing Kemcolians going bubbly and not so theetas.

After this was the KDS skit, a hilarious and jovial performance by Unsa Athar, Hassan Ali, Asad Mehmood and Talha Tarrar, thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Filza Saeed from 1st year and Hira Asghar concluded the mentoring session with their excellent presentations. Filza raised an important point that how to excel without the pangs of academies.

ENDING

The event ended with humorous short video called “10 WAYS OF GETTING INTO KE” that made all the onlookers giggle. And the dust settled down with a campus tour for the guests headed by the Kemcolians.

This was the humble effort by IFMSA LC KEMU specially SCOME and all the organizers worked their heart out to accomplish what the event was destined for.
